It’s hard to know quite where to begin with this blog post. It was a little under two and a half years ago that we first met Bex and Dom and, as is often the way with a big build up, we’ve looked forward to their wedding for quite some time now! You may remember their Malham Cove Engagement shoot from earlier this year where we spent the afternoon clambering over rocks and trying our best not to steal their dog Barney when we said goodbye. It’s hard to see anyone not getting on with a couple like this and in the days before their wedding we found ourselves looking forward to the weekend, not just to shoot, but to see Bex and Dom again.
It didn’t surprise either of us to see that one of the most touching things about the wedding was the incredible group of friends they have. With no shortage of bridesmaids and groomsmen the excitement started early and looking back through the images one of the things that struck us was just how happy and energetic everyone was, from getting ready right through to midnight when it was clear that nobody wanted to leave!
I remember when we started shooting weddings, I think both of us were taken by surprise just how much we loved it and we made a promise to each other that we would never lose that passion for what we do. We saw so many people who didn’t seem to love it, that had lost their passion, that we wondered if it got boring after a while. Sitting here, looking through Bex and Dom’s photos which (with a bit of checking, was our 228th wedding) I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that we won’t ever lose our passion for what we do.
If anything we get more invested in the weddings, and the people we meet, with every wedding season that passes. When you meet people as welcoming as everyone at Bex and Dom’s wedding, and see couples enjoying their day this much, it’s pretty impossible to imagine that there’s a better job for either of us.
