A boutique hotel in Wensleydale, for intimate weddings in the heart of the Dales.
Photographing weddings at Yorebridge House
Yorebridge House is a boutique hotel in the village of Bainbridge, in Wensleydale. It’s made up of a former Victorian headmaster’s house and the school building next door. It’s Grade II listed, it was once the headquarters of the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority, and it has been a hotel since 2006.
Julia and Simon’s wedding is the one I always think of here. They wanted something intimate, in a place close to their hearts and all about close friends and family. So they married in a small ceremony in nearby Hawes and came back to Yorebridge House for the reception.
The Dales are home for me, and travel is included in every collection. If you’re weighing up venues, see my pages on Falcon Manor in Settle and Middleton Lodge too.

About Yorebridge House
There are 13 bedrooms: eleven in the main house and the schoolhouse, plus the Meadow Suite and the Barn, a self-contained cottage in the village a short walk away. Several rooms have their own outdoor hot tubs, and there’s a riverside spa with a sauna.
It’s licensed for civil ceremonies, so you can marry and celebrate in one place, or do as Julia and Simon did and marry nearby before coming back for the meal. The restaurant serves modern British food with a focus on local produce.

A wedding day at Yorebridge House
Julia’s morning was full of emotion. She got teary-eyed opening a beautiful gift from Simon, standing against bold damask wallpaper by an ornate white bed, while everyone else got ready around her.
Their ceremony in Hawes was small and intimate, in an old stone church, and it was hard not to get emotional during their vows: it clearly meant so much to both of them. Afterwards they walked down the churchyard path between the gravestones, and we stopped on a quiet road between stone walls for a few portraits, with bare trees and the fells behind.
Back at Yorebridge House, it was hard not to get emotional hearing their stories through the speeches, but there was plenty of laughter too. The first dance was under a chandelier, with friends and family gathered close around them.
