Grays Court Wedding Photography York Wedding Photographers
When it came to writing the blog post for Georgie and Steve’s Grays Court Wedding I have to say I struggled to find where to begin. We’ve seen a lot over the course of the last 5 years and this was one of those weddings that we both felt incredibly connected with. While Verity was busy editing away I was thinking back through our time getting to know Georgie and Steve, as well as our time at the wedding, to try and pin down just what it was that resonated with us so much.
As I looked back through their York engagement shoot I realised that despite all of the lovely features the wedding had its-self, from the beautiful Grays Court (fast becoming one of our favourite York venues) to the wintery theme and the energy of the evening dancing, it was once again the people that made this one stand out so much.
Georgie and Steve are the kind of couple who are never anything other than completely genuine and it was clear to both of us that come rain or shine their day would be a really special one. It’s just as well really, as rain it certainly did. In fact, their wedding was held just days after some of the worst flooding York has ever seen. With clean-up operations going on throughout the city (and indeed the rest of Yorkshire) I think we all had a nervous few days watching the apocalyptic reports popping up on the internet.
We needn’t have worried though, as luck would have it the weather reports seemed to have put off the tourists and our journey into York was one of the fastest and quietest that we’ve ever had. Personally I don’t think luck was involved, we’re big believers in Karma, and if anyone deserved a lucky break it was these guys.
It’s really no surprise that Georgie and Steve are quite as genuine as they are, from the moment we arrived in the morning it wasn’t just them or their immediate families who made us feel welcome. Every single guest at the wedding was friendly and open, inviting us into the day in a way that we absolutely loved. Allowing us to get close enough to catch the tears and the laughter without ever feeling that we were intruding on their day.
We understand it can often be difficult for friends and family who’ve never met us to feel this comfortable with our camera’s clicking away, but as we looked back over Georgie and Steve’s entire collection we realised that in this case everyone there deserves a special mention. Not just for making us both feel so welcome, but for helping us to give Georgie and Steve the kind of images that truly represent their unforgettable day. For not worrying about the weather, or the cold or if the floods would get worse. For throwing themselves into the day with the kind of gusto that would make most people exhausted just to watch. That’s what made Georgie and Steve’s Grays Court Wedding completely and utterly unrepeatable!
