Crow Hill Wedding Photography Yorkshire
If you read back through a few of our old blog posts you might notice a bit of a theme, I guess more than anything it’s one that’s pretty key to what we do. Connecting with our couples and if we’re lucky, their family and friends. I guess it’s hard not to feel connected to these families who we have shared such a special day with, especially when we are seeing it all through our viewfinders. Often up close and able to catch glances and moments that even guests miss.
Add to that the engagement shoot beforehand, the time editing and selecting photos as well as going back over everything to pick out our favourites for the blog. All in all we end up feeling pretty emotional ourselves going over each collection.
We met Francesca and Ian way back in March last year when we first talked about their day and started to get to know them both. During their engagement shoot we heard about the early days of their relationship, meeting at university much like ourselves. We even went past the spot where they used to meet for lunch after they had graduated to help get each other through a hard day’s work. Even then we both felt like we had a lot in common with them and we’ve been looking forward to their wedding for quite some time.
It was our first trip back to Crow Hill in a couple of years and we loved the chance to explore a bit more this time and find a few spots we hadn’t seen last time. We always love how Crow Hill weddings are a bit more of a weekend event with the main house often being used for the weekends accommodation. It’s just another chance to extend the wedding and get a little more of that valuable family time.
When we arrived in the morning Fran was getting ready in the main building with Ian just next door, we always arrive a little early to give ourselves time to settle in and get to know everyone a bit. This was one of those days when we really couldn’t have asked for a more welcoming group of people. Both sides of the family gave us a warm welcome and made us feel immediately comfortable shooting away. In fact the whole day went pretty much like that, it didn’t matter where we were or who we spoke to, everyone just seemed to be as friendly as the couple they were there for.
During the day we heard stories from the past ten years of Francesca and Ian’s relationship, from Ian’s ‘Look at the legs on her!’, to their long distance months all the way through to now. I sometimes wish there was a way to thank not just the couples that we shoot for on days like this, but their guests as well. It’s often this warm hearted openness that allows us to get photos that don’t just tell a story, but capture the emotion and atmosphere of a day. This is one of those days that we both feel really connected to and to us, this post is our tribute to everyone who made the day so special!
