Lake District Engagement Photographers

Engagement shoots are a really important part of what we do here at Sansom Photography. It’s such a fantastic opportunity to get to know couples a little better as well as getting some great shots that we just wouldn’t be able to capture on a wedding day. We always feel that the more we can get to know a couple, the more relaxed the wedding day will be which is always conducive to some awesome wedding photography.

Matt and Domi’s Lake District Engagement shoot was a bit of a different one for us. They had opted for our luxury engagement shoot which gave us much more time than we have for a standard engagement shoot. We’ve often spoken about our love for the Lake District but this was an area we’d not been to before which we both really enjoyed. There’s something exciting about shooting in area’s and locations we’ve not seen before, something much more freeing than shooting in familiar spots.

The day started out – after a quick cup of tea at Domi’s family holiday home – trekking up a sizeable hill (Verity’s insisting it was a mountain and I’m not sure I have the heart to tell her that we were actually about 300ft short of a mountain) for some atmospheric shots over the valley below. From there we continued along a walk familiar to Matt and Domi shooting away transfixed by the spectacular scenery. We finished the day off all the way over in Skelwith Bridge for a café stop at Chesters – one of our own favourite spots in the lakes that we were keen to share with Matt and Domi before we headed home to Leeds.

It’s amazing to think that Matt and Domi’s wedding is now just a fraction over two months away and honestly – we can’t wait! Spending the day climbing, scrambling and hiking through the lakes was the perfect way to get to know this awesome couple and something tells me their wedding will be pretty special!
