Lake District Wedding Photographers Yorkshire | Wedding Photographer York
Just the other day we looked back through our blog at the weddings so far this year. Honestly we can’t quite believe how much fun we’ve had, and we’re only half way! We were talking to a good friend of ours recently about client expectations, how we both love it when a couple has seen one of our favourite weddings and wants theirs to be just as epic. The truth is that we’re just like those excited couples, we go to every wedding with high expectations and I think in many ways that’s what keeps us pushing ourselves to create unique photographs.
Between Verity, myself, Sarah and Bren we had some high expectations for their Lake District wedding photography last month. For us, the expectation started building right about the time Sarah sent me a photo of a possible location for their engagement shoot (A location that would end up bagging Verity an Honourable Mention in Junebug Wedding’s ‘Best of the Best Engagements’ this year). We knew they had loved Pete and Gael’s wedding last year as Sarah works in the same office as Pete, suffice to say the World’s Best Ceremony 2014 was a pretty high benchmark. We also knew Sarah and Bren would be the kind of couple who were more than happy to explore a bit to get some incredible shots.
Isn’t it funny how sometimes we meet the right people at the wrong time, this was especially true for Sarah and Bren. Their story certainly isn’t one that you could say was love at first sight, having met way back in primary school where, despite Bren’s objections, Sarah was invited over after school. An indignant Bren would make it quite clear Sarah wasn’t going anywhere near his pet lizard OR his Treehouse. Years later a crowded nightclub would be the setting for their love at second sight moment. Spotting Sarah from across the crowded dancefloor Bren’s sister Brooke was the catalyst for their re-union, well and truly earning the honour of bridesmaid for their big day.
It’s amazing to think that these two could ever have failed to get along. With guests travelling from across the world to their remote, Lake District village Sarah and Bren’s magnetic personalities had clearly made an impact on their family and friends as much as they had to each other. In that way, I can’t help but think that meeting again in that nightclub wasn’t as much a stroke of luck as it was an inevitability for these two. As our shutters flickered in the golden light and we looked over the small village that had been the setting for their incredible wedding there was no doubt in our mind that these two really were meant to be together.
