Kilshane House Wedding Photography | Destination Wedding Photographers
One of the best things about what we do is the places it takes us to, last year we visited Slovenia and Marbella for stunning destination adventure shoots and earlier this year we headed over to Ireland for Isobel and Karl’s wedding. It’s hard not to fall in love with wedding photography once you begin to really appreciate what it is that we are all lucky enough to be a part of as photographers. Our whole career is built around couples inviting us in to one of the most personal and memorable moments of their lives. Isobel and Karl’s wedding was the kind of day that left us with an even greater appreciation for the importance of our work, for them it wasn’t a destination wedding at all. It was a wedding that celebrated their love of Ireland as much as their love for each other.
We arrived at Kilshane House bright and early where Verity headed up to meet Isobel and the bridesmaids, while I walked down to the lake with Karl and the groomsmen. I’m still not sure how nobody ended up in the lake, but with the boat already filled with a few inches of rainwater from the days leading up to the wedding, no amount of boating skill was going to keep them dry. Throughout the day it seemed like the usual wedding day nerves just weren’t playing a part in Isobel and Karl’s day, from start to end it was a celebration of family and friends all together in a place that united everyone. Even the threat of thunderstorms and the occasional shower never came close to dampening the spirits of anyone at the wedding and despite all of the forecasts Karma came through and delivered the most unlikely of weather in an otherwise rainy week.
Isobel and Karl have both worked in London for some time now, building careers for themselves in one of the best places in the world to do so. As we got to know their friends and family it was clear that everyone appreciated how hard they had worked to get to where they both are and how proud they all were of this incredible couple. It’s always amazing how much you can learn about two people when you follow them for a day as poignant as a wedding. On the surface Isobel and Karl seem like highly successful, career driven people, but for them it is abundantly clear that for all of their achievements in London, home for them will always be where their hearts are – in Ireland. We cannot thank them both enough for showing us this amazing part of the world, and why they love it so much.
