Our Best Wedding Photography 2014 | Wedding Photographers York
In many ways it feels like this year’s flown by, but looking back through our weddings this year January seems like a world away. Since then we’ve shot in some of the most fantastic locations, from some of the UKs most beautiful countryside to the hustle and bustle of a Houses of Parliament wedding. We’ve reached out and got to know some incredible photographers throughout the world whose work has inspired us to push ourselves even more. In May we were invited to join Junebug Weddings ‘World’s Best Wedding Photographers Hotlist’, something we’ve been aspiring to since we started and a list we’re exceptionally proud to be a part of.
The year started off pretty early, 12.01AM on the 1st of January to be exact for Stella and Dom’s New Years Eve Wedding in Ilkley. It’s pretty safe to say it’s been a memorable year for us, with our first Asian Wedding, a trip to one of our favourite places, the Lake District for Katie and Richard’s rainy – but awesome – Silverholme Manor Wedding and a trip to Europe’s largest Treehouse up in Alnwick. Not to mention things outside of weddings with the absolutely unforgettable Grand Depart in our very own Yorkshire as well as a few forays into triathlon for myself later in the year.
This year, more than ever before, it seems like we’re connecting with just the right couples, couples who really understand what we do and allow us the freedom to get creative and really make their photos awesome. More than that though, for us, this year has been about really getting to know the brides and grooms that we photograph. In the process we’ve found ourselves coming away with images we’re much more emotionally attached to and couples who we genuinely see more as friends than ‘clients’.
Sometimes I think of us as newcomers to all of this, but, at the end of our fourth year, and 200 weddings later I finally feel like we’ve hit our stride. There’s still plenty of goals we’ve yet to achieve but with some big news on the horizon and another exciting busy year ahead we really couldn’t be more proud of what we have accomplished, it definitely feels like we’re headed in the right direction. I’m running out of superlatives to describe this year and we really should make the most of the stockpile of Christmas treats we’ve got leftover before it’s all New Year’s resolutions and healthy eating! So, after a LOT of debating/bickering/narrowing down, here is our favourite 100 photographs from this year!
